The Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization
(SEMPO) was formed to help spread the good news about search
engine marketing (SEM).
SEMPO exists to fill the gaps in awareness
and understanding of SEM, including educating marketing managers
worldwide about what SEM is and how properly implemented SEM
programs can provide some of the highest returns on investment
possible in the marketing world today.
The industry is still in the early stages
of using SEM as a new way of demand generation for products,
services, and information. The time is ripe for SEMPO. Companies
of all sizes have Internet marketing managers that use techniques
like banner ads, yet many don't know what SEM is, or are unaware
of real-life use cases that demonstrate some amazing ROI.
So why don't all the online businesses use
SEM strategies? Because they don't know about it! Hard for
us to imagine when most SEM veterans have been immersed in
the industry since the time when putting a meta keyword tag
in your source code was enough to get you ranked well in Altavista
in three days.
SEMPO was formed by companies and consultants
who have seen SEM's value first hand, and believe in the effectiveness
of educational materials and programs describing the value
of SEM strategies and tactics. By educating the market, we
